Faculty development refers to the total development of full time and part-time faculty as a person, as a professional, and as a member of the college, so that they can fully support the mission of the institution and effectively enhance the learning experiences of their students.  At the community college great emphasis is placed on teaching effectiveness; recognizing that excellence in teaching is an ongoing process.  Faculty development programs include emphasis on topics such as assessment of teaching and learning outcomes, instructional techniques, learning modalities, innovative technology, classroom management, curriculum development, retention, and diversity.
