INSTITUTIONAL MERIT AWARD
The Institutional Merit Award recognizes excellence in the delivery and impact of staff, program and organizational development programs and in the promotion of these outstanding programs. Evaluation criteria include program objectives, creativity/innovation, impact, and evaluation of outcomes.
The 2009 Institutional Merit Award recipient is: Johnson County Community College Emergency Response Team.
JOHN FRY INDIVIDUAL AWARD
The John Fry Individual Merit Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to staff, program, and organizational development on a regional, state/provincial, or local basis. This award is for an individual's activities that assist others in our profession to become more proficient. Evaluation is based upon local, state/provincial, or regional contributions to staff, program, and organizational development, especially including activities to assist others in our field to conduct more effective programming.
The 2009 John Fry Individual Merit Award recipient is: Anneli Adams, College of Southern Nevada.
INNOVATION AWARD
The Innovation Award recognizes achievement in a program, project, or event that demonstrates innovative ideas, adaptations, activities, or approaches that enhance the effectiveness of staff, program, and/or organizational development.
The 2009 Innovation Award recipient is Tyler Weldon, New Mexico Higher Education Department.
COLLEGE PRESIDENT'S/ CHANCELLOR AWARD
The College President's/Chancellor Award recognizes a college president or chancellor for outstanding leadership in support of SPOD activities. The support for staff, program, and organizational development can occur in a variety of ways and at a variety of levels (institutional, regional, national, or international).
The 2009 NCSPOD College President's/Chancellor's Award recipient is: Dr. William Wenrich, Dallas County Community College District.
HELEN BURNSTAD NATIONAL LEADERSHIP AWARD
The Helen Burnstad National Leadership Award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions in writing, research, leadership, or advocacy that promotes the goals of staff, program, and/or organizational development at the national or international level.
The 2009 Helen Burnstad National Leadership Award recipient is: Dr. Cindra Smith, Community College League of California.
GLENN SCHMITZ AWARD
The Glenn Schmitz Award is awarded each year to an individual who has provided outstanding service to the NCSPOD Board. Glenn Schmitz was an early board member who served officially from 1981-1990 and who performed many other services on behalf of the organization.
The 2009 Glenn Schmitz Award recipient is: Sara McCarthy, Maricopa Community Colleges.
EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABILITY AWARD
The new award recognizes the innovation and successes of our members who integrate sustainable development (environmental, economic, social and cultural) into education and learning.
The 2009 Education for Sustainability Awards were given to: John McDonald, British Columbia Institute of Technology and Jay Antle, Johnson County Community College.
Certificate of Achievement in Staff, Program & Organizational Development
The Certificate of Achievement in SPOD recognizes accomplishments of competency for individuals who have proven knowledge of the general principles and practices of staff, program and organizational development and demonstrated a high level of achievement in the practice of their profession.
Certificates of Achievement in SPOD are awarded to: Shirley Kaczka, Eastfield College; Natalie Kimbrough, Community College of Baltimore County; and Penny Lorenzo, Kaplan University.
FOUNDERS' SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
The Founders' Scholarship Award, honoring those who led the organization during the first thirty years of its history, acknowledges the creativity and leadership skills among its current members.
The 2009 Founders' Scholarship Award recipient is: Vicky Andrews, Del Mar College.
