The Education for Sustainable Development Award

This new Award, begun in 2009, is the Education for Sustainable Development Award. UN defines sustainable development as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. Higher education institutions and professional organizations are being called upon to educate and model the values and principles of sustainability in their strategies, programs and learning environments. NCSPOD is proud to be able to provide an opportunity to recognize the innovations and successes of our members who integrate sustainable development (environmental, economic, social and cultural) into education and learning. The nominee must be a current NCSPOD member.

The Institutional Merit Award

recognizes excellence in the delivery and impact of staff, program and organizational development programs and in the promotion of these outstanding programs. The nominee must hold a current membership in NCSPOD. Up to three institutions annually may receive this award. Evaluation criteria include program objectives, creativity/innovation, impact, and evaluation of outcomes.

The John Fry Individual Merit Award

Previous recipients are not eligible for three years following the receipt of the award, and current NCSPOD Board members are not eligible. Evaluation is based upon local, state/provincial, or regional contributions to staff, program, and organizational development, especially including activities to assist others in our field to conduct more effective programming.

The NCSPOD Exemplar Award (New for 2010!)

Institutional members of NCSPOD are encouraged to nominate a faculty or staff member or administrator who best exemplifies professional development at their institution. This new annual award recognizes those who best exemplify professional development at their institution. • and/or helping promote professional development.

Every NCSPOD institutional member will be able to honor one member from its community annually.  This award will be presented to each recipient at the annual international NCSPOD conference in the Fall.   Please send the name, email address and a brief description of your honoree along with your name and email address to Santo Rizzo so that we may include you and your honoree in further communications about conference recognition.

This is your opportunity to recognize a deserving employee at your institution before an international audience of staff, faculty and organizational developers.
